Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has congratulated the state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode over his victory at the poll that was upheld by the Appeal Court.

On Wednesday, the appeal court held that Akinwumni Ambode was validly elected as the governor of Lagos State on April 11, and dismissed the appeal filed by his challenger, Jimi Agbaje and awarded cost against the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Reacting to the verdict, Hon. Obasa stated that apart from affirming Ambode’s and APC’s victory at the election, the verdict also gave legal authority to the victory of both the Governor and the party during the polls.

“This is a sweet victory and coming from the Appeal Court, it is a further confirmation of the legality and authenticity of the victory of Mr. Governor and our great party during the election,” the Lagos Assembly. Speaker said.

While congratulating Gov. Ambode and the leadership of the APC for the Appeal Court’s victory, Rt. Hon. Obasa stated that the fact that the decision of the Appeal Court was a clear indication that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Mr. Jimi Agbaje has no justification to challenge the election result in the first because they were beaten fair and square.

“The verdicts of both the Election Petitions Tribunal and the Appeal Court are clear indications that the PDP and its candidate ought not to have challenged the results of the election in the first place because they were beaten fair and square.

“It is a sweet victory and I want to congratulate Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode and the entire leadership of the party,” the Lagos Speaker Hon. Mudashiru Obasa said on the appeal court’s verdict.
