Dr. Femi Thomas who is suspected of killing his wife, Dr. Hestianna Thomas, in a domestic violence incident is in custody.
The consultant clinical pathologist with the Lagos State Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) Ikeja had last Thursday turned himself in to the police at Ajao estate division immediately after his wife was certified dead at Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, where she worked as a consultant pediatrician until her demise.
Though autopsy is being carried out by pathologists on the body of the deceased, and the result is scheduled for release before the weekend according to reliable source, Dr. Thomas is currently detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, where he is being interrogated.
Police sources said Dr. Thomas has denied culpability in the death of his wife.
Rather, he said Dr. Hestianna Thomas could have committed suicide, adding that he met her lying unconscious in a pool of blood in the early hours of Thursday outside their room and rushed her to LUTH where she was confirmed dead.
It would be recalled that Dr. Thomas’ mother-in-law had earlier frowned at suggestion that her son-in-law murdered her daughter.
