The sizzling romance between Abdulrasheed Maina and his Personal Assistant, Miss Mercy Bala, which made the wife of the former police pension funds director, Hajia Leila Maina to attack her husband’s lover has torn the couple apart.
Maina, who faces allegations of stealing billions of naira of police officers’ pension deposits, employed the charming Miss. Bala in his private office.
After being inundated with tales of her husband’s affair with his PA, Hajia Leila Maina and Maina’s younger sister, Miss Hauwa Maina last Wednesday, allegedly lured Miss Mercy Bala, a Personal Assistant to Maina and accused her of having an affair with her principal and beat her to state of unconsciousness.
According to Mercy who reported the assault at the Life-camp Police station in Abuja, those who allegedly assaulted her also made away with her bag containing N200,000 and two telephone handsets.
Her words: “I was in my house when the security guard where I work at Kado Estate called to tell me that my boss wanted to see me. I work under Dr Abdulrasheed Maina in his private office, where he attends to his personal issues. He employed me as his PA but has not given me employment letter yet. It’s a new office and we are supposed to be like the pioneer workers.
“I have been working with him for just two months. The office was set up in September. So when the security man called to tell me that Oga wanted to see me, I was like anything the matter? He said ‘no’ that Oga says he just wants to see me before going out.
“When I got to the premises, I saw a woman standing in front of the door to the office. She just asked me, ‘you are Mercy Bala’, I said ‘yes’. “Before I knew it, she just slapped me. Then I asked her why she did it. She just said ‘you have the guts to send a love text message to my husband this morning? I said, ‘no, I didn’t send any message this morning. She didn’t even allow me to talk, she just pounced on me.
“I wanted to make my escape out of the premises when I realised that she was with one Hauwa Maina, my boss’ younger sister. She blocked the office door so I could not escape. So the wife of my boss was able to grab my hair and pulled it and some of my hair and attachments pulled off.”
The DPO of Life Camp Police Station had detailed some plain-cloth detectives to go to Maina’s residence and invite the wife so as to respond to the allegation but she was not around.
Orijoreporter gathered that Dr. Maina had sent his wife packing following the incident. It was said that the embattled former police pension fund director is angry with his wife for exposing him to further public ridicule after the pension fraud saga.
