A man has died in Ebonyi of caffeine overdose after he drank eight cans of Bullet Energy drinks because he had a bet with a friend that he could finish it.
The deceased identified as Elijah Nwankwo and hailed from Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State bet N1,600 with his friend, one Chikwado Nchionu that he would finish eight cans of the energy drink.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Enugu State Command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu on Friday said in a statement that the deceased had on Thursday took the bet with one Chikwado Nchionu, to drink eight cans of the energy drink simultaneously, and billed to collect N1,600 upon the successful completion of the task.
It was gathered that after taking eight cans of the energy drink, Nwankwo became weak and subsequently went into a coma. He rushed to the Mother of Christ Hospital, Enugu, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
