Man kills brother over N1,500 electricity bill debt

As little as N1,500 a customer, Godwin Orji, owed Enugu Electricity Company, has led to his death in the hands of his brother, Peter Orji, at Uruagu in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State. 

Both siblings who were living in the same compound until Godwins’ killing on Tuesday by his younger brother, Peter, in an argument that ensued over the deceased’s failure to pay a debt of N1,500 he owed as monthly electricity bill.   

Multiple accounts said, Peter was grieved by the electric company’s workers’ disconnection of power that entered the whole building, affecting his own apartment in the process to which he vented his anger on Godwin, who was responsible for the ugly situation in the first place. 

The killer brother was reported to have fetched his gun in his flat and opened fire on the victim who died as a result.  

 It was further gathered that the suspect and his wife who was found at the scene have been arrested and currently in the custody of the police.
