Man kills wife’s lover in Lagos

1384, Adisa

A man simply identified as Idris is on the run but landed his wife, Adisa, a Togolese, in police net after killing one Abdulraman Danbaba whom he suspected was having a seedy underground affair with her.

The tragedy happened at Kofo Abayomi round about, Apapa area of Lagos at a shanti where Adisa and her husband lived until the incident last Friday.

Leading up to the sad tale, a neigbour squealed on Danbaba and Adisa to the latter’s husband, a security guard, saying they were having secret romance behind him and the former often visited their residence whenever he was at work, Vanguard reported.

The paper said on the fateful day, the same neigbour called Idris on phone when Danbaba visited the apartment to inform him, and he rushed down home and allegedly met his wife and her alleged lover in compromising position.

Danbaba was said to have fallen to the ground and unconscious after Idris hit him on the head with a hammer in a fit of anger as effort to revive him(Danbaba) failed and was confirmed dead on arrival at the hospital he was rushed to.

The killer and his informant are on the run prompting police to arrest the wife, the report said.

However, 42-year-old Adisa who is currently in detention at SCID, denied claims she was in a relationship with the deceased who was 10 years her junior but hailed from the same country with her.

The paper quoted the mother-of-five, who has two of her with her fleeing husband as saying: “Now my husband has abandoned me to suffer for a crime I did not commit. How could he have accused me of having extra marital affairs with the deceased whom I was much older than? How could I be promiscuous at this age, when I have better things to think about? I am diabetic and that is the most pressing issue on my mind, not promiscuity.”
