One Ayodeji Omolade was arraigned before an Akure Masgistrate Court for stealing a goat to celebrate his 21st birthday
And when the charge with MAK/543/2013 was read the accused pleaded guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, ASP Atandeyi Ayodele told the court that on August 31, at about 6 am at Odopo Layout, Power line Area Akure, the accused stole one black she-goat valued at N15, 000 belonging to one Kabiru Kareem stressing that the said goat was found in the accused person’s possession, which he [accused] had wanted to use for his 21st birthday, before the bubble burst and he was arrested.
He added that his statement was obtained and thereafter he was charged to court.
The Defence Counsel, Barr. O.P Daramola in his application and submission prayed the court to tamper justice with mercy, noting that the accused person is a first offender.
Delivering judgment, the Magistrate Mrs. C Adeyanju said since the accused is a first offender and had no criminal record, she decided to caution and discharge him.
She therefore ordered the mother of the accused to always advise her son and pray for him.
