A 24 year-old man believed to be a member of a child stealing syndicate has been caught in Imo State.
The suspect, Chijioke Odunze who was caught by the Scorpion Squad is an indigene of Amaigbo in Nwangele Local Government Area of Imo State.
Police sources said Odunze and three others stole the eighteen-month-old baby from the mother’s kitchen.
Parading the suspects who were also accused of kidnapping one Cyril Echesi along Uli Ihiala in Anambra State, the commissioner, Abdulmajid Ali, said Chijioke and his men jumped over the fence to Mrs. Susan Odueze house to take away her baby.
He added that immediately the squad got information of the incident, they combed the bushes in the area and arrested Chijioke Odunze.
While speaking to newsmen, Chijioke said someone promised to pay him N350,000 if he could provide a baby.
