Katsina Governor Aminu Masari has ordered the compulsory closure of all boarding schools in the state following Friday’s abduction of scores of schoolboys from Government Science Secondary School in Kankara area of the state.

Masari gave this directive on Saturday.

The governor while bemoaning the situation, said government has set security machinery in place to rescue the abducted students and ordered the closure of boarding schools in the state.

“We want to assure you that we will do all that is possible to rescue the schoolchildren as we have directed the immediate closure of all schools in the state and that all pupils should be taken back home,” he said.

Eight hundred students are originally in GSS Kankara boarding and not less than 400 of them were believed to have been abducted in the Friday night’s abduction carried out by suspected bandits on the very day President Muhamadu Buhari started a week-long holiday in Katsina, his home state.
