Father, son arrested over killing of ‘missing doctor’

Three people, including a father and his son, have been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of Dr. AbdulKareem Tunde-AbdulRahman, who was earlier declared missing.

Dr. AbdulRahman, a medical officer with Hospital Management Bureau who worked at Omu Aran General Hospital was declared missing about two weeks ago.

But speaking with newsmen on Monday in Ilorin, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ajayi Okasanmi, said Dr. AbdulRahman was killed by three people who are close to the victim’s family, adding that the suspects are in police detention.

Okasanmi stated that the suspects, which include a security guard, a father and his son, Muhammed Jamiu, lived in the same house with the late doctor, a house built by their victim’s father.

He said they murdered Dr. AbdulRahman in his room around 1.00am on July 24, put his body in the deceased’s car boot, drove off and threw his remains away.

The lead suspect, Jamiu, an ex-convict, was said to have taken a dislike to the late doctor after his mother(Jamiu’s mother) died of Cholera. It was said the suspect believed the late doctor didn’t do enough to safe his mother.
