Leading figure in Yoruba Nation agitation, Prof Banji Akintoye, has said that, “Nigeria is no longer a country.”

Akintoye stated this in an interview he granted PUNCH Live Interview on Tuesday from his Benin Republic base where he escaped to claiming he got wind of an alleged plan by the federal government to eliminate him.

The 86-year-old in the interview with the paper said the north has a tight grip on all other parts adding that nowhere in the world such situation existed.

According to him: “It has reached a time now that Nigeria is no longer a country. Why do I say this? There is no other country in the world where one section, one region says, ‘We are going to conquer the rest, we are going to subdue you, we will make ourselves the controllers of the resources of your land, we will treat you more or less like slaves’.”
