Nigerian Pastor arrested on multiple rape charges in South Africa remanded

Pastor Timothy Omotoso, the Nigerian-born televangelist arrested on Thursday for having sexual relations with at least 30 young girls, who are members of his church, Jesus Dominion International Church in Durban, was on Friday arraigned before a Port Elizabeth court.

Charged with human trafficking and sexual violence charges, Pastor Omotosho is accused of molesting more than 30 young girls on the pretext of rescuing them from, Pastor Timothy Omotoso

The 58-year-old got into trouble when his church featured on a current affairs programme during which some girls claimed that they were lured into performing sexual favours for the pastor.

“We can confirm as the NPA that indeed Pastor Omotoso has been remanded in custody until 3 May because he wants to apply for bail,”

“We can also confirm that this is not something that is going to happen quickly. We understand that there’s still a lot of investigation that needs to be done before we start prosecuting,” a news medium in South Africa, Eye Witness News quoted the country’s National Prosecution Authority (NPA)’s Tshepo Ndwalaza as saying.
