Final year secondary school students in Nigeria won’t participate in the forthcoming West African Examination Council (WAEC) examinations, according to the federal government.
Earlier, final year students were scheduled to write WAEC from August 4 to September 5.
But the Education Minister, Mallam Adamu Adamu on Wednesday after the week’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting via zoom, explained to State House Correspondents, that the country’s students would not sit for the exams saying doing otherwise is risky.
Adamu said he would prefer Nigerian students lose an academic year than to expose them to dangers.
