48-year-old Abiodun Adio who recently won the grand prize at the just concluded Airtel’s promo, a new 2015 Range Rover Vogue is like a cat with nine lives. On two occasions, he has survived accidents that were severe enough to kill him.

About six years ago, Mr. Adio (pictured receiving car key dummy) was an inter-state commercial bus driver, driving daily between Lagos and Ibadan.

Sources who live in the same neighbourhood with the lottery winner at Akute, an Ogun State suburb told OrijoReporters that one fateful day, he caused the death of 18 passengers when his bus veered off the road, and crashed into the bush, killing all the occupants except him.

It was a miracle that he survived the accident, however, it inflicted serious injuries on him, and made his face and head to have scars. He was also charged with manslaughter, and had to appear severally in court.

It was gathered that before heading to court on another fateful day, he chose to work briefly, carrying passengers commuting between Akute to Agege in Lagos State.

But tragedy struck again. His bus crashed into the gully at Grail land at Iju Hill, killing two passengers.

It was said that the second accident made the judge in his case to hand him lifetime ban from driving.

However, to keep body and soul together, Mr. Adio flouted the court order, and turned into a petty truck driver, surreptitiously working for a block making company in Akute.biodun 3

After his trials and tribulations, his triumph came on Friday, January 30th, 2015 when he was selected in the final draw of Airtel Red Hot Promo where he was presented a luxury SUV by the telecommunication giant’s CEO, Mr. Segun Ogunsanya, at a prize presentation ceremony held at the Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
