A nurse has been arrested in Ogun State for stealing a newborn baby who was delivered in her maternity home.

The suspect, Adebola Titilayo(pictured) operates a maternity home at Arogun Village in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun, and on June 13, 2015, assisted a patient in giving birth to a baby but claimed the baby was stillborn.

In a statement released by the Ogun State Police Command and signed by the PRO, Muyiwa Adejobi, police said that the suspect has seven biological children, and the command has recovered the one she stole.

The statement reads in part: “She was arrested by the police when the mother got a reliable information about the baby and immediately informed the police.

“The sympathisers in the community noticed that the suspect, who was never pregnant, suddenly started nursing a baby that she could not even breastfeed. They informed the mother, who later reported the case to the police in Ewekoro on Friday, August 7, 2015.

“In the course of police investigation, it has been revealed that the suspect, a mother of seven, had issues with her initial marriage and got married to another man, whom the nurse wants to have at least, a baby for, for reasons known to her.”
