Minister of finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has revealed that she was diagnosed with cancer but fought through and survived it.
The minister shared her ugly experience on Thursday in Abuja at the service of song held for the repose of the soul of the Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathn on Research, Documentation and Strategy, late Oronto Douglas(pictured right) who died on April 9, 2015 from cancer-related complications at the age of 49.
Iweala who was one of the dignitaries at the occasion recalled that each time she visited dying Douglas in his sickbed at the State House Clinic in Abuja she used to comfort him with her own experience of the disease and how she survived it.
She said, “Oronto and I had two similarities in life, we both had cancer. I had my last surgery, 15 years ago and I shared my experience with him.”
