The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was conspicuously absent at the campaign rally of the party for the reelection of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, its governorship candidate in coming Saturday’s election in Ondo State.
The event held at Akure had in attendance chieftains of the party including Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, most of his counterparts, as well as members of the National Assembly, who attended in person.
President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, attended by virtue but Tinubu was nowhere to be found.
This may not be unconnected to Edo election where the former Lagos governor’s open involvement via a viral broadcast to people of the state urging them to vote for APC somehow influenced the outcome as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, used it to demarket the ruling party candidate with the high-point the slogan, Edo no be Lagos.
