Former First Lady Patience Jonathan has been granted an unfettered access to the $5.9m in her Skye Bank Account.

This follows the decision of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to withdraw its application seeking to stay the execution of a court order which unfroze the Bank account today, April 25.

EFCC counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, appeared before the Federal High Court in Lagos, which on April 6 unfroze Patience’s account, stating that the commission was no longer interested in appealing the unfreezing order.

Oyedepo told Justice Mojisola Olatoregun, that the commission was therefore withdrawing its application seeking to stay the execution of the order.

In his response to EFCC’s withdrawal of its application, Patience’s lawyer, Mr. Ifedayo Adedipe, confirmed being served with the application to withdraw.
Following this development, Patience Jonathan now has unfettered access to her bank account.
