Veteran comedian, Babatunde Omidina a.k.a. Baba Suwe, has recently been in the news after a broadcaster raised alarm that the actor is dying of an unknown illness.

According to the broadcaster, the actor has been abandoned to his fate by colleagues who have kept their distance in spite of knowing his present condition.

No sooner the news went viral things began to happen. In less than 48 hours of the news breaking on social media the comedian’s house became a Tourist Centre of sorts as his colleagues trooped to his house to show empathy and equally give their ‘widow’s mite’. However, Yesterday Monday 25th Feb, 2019, actor, Yomi Fabiyi, who first broke the news of Baba Suwe’s ill health a few years ago and was also the first to announce that colleagues have been responding to the SOS sent out, again announced that a Philanthropist has donated the sum of N10million to enable the ailing actor travel abroad for urgent medical treatment.

“Mayor Gbenga Adewusi visited Baba Suwe on his hospital bed and having been briefed of the current situation, he initiated an SOS to Rev. (Mrs.) Esther Ajayi through Biodun Paseda to see where the philanthropist can help Baba Suwe. Immediately she offered to support with N10million and his flight ticket to support whatever Baba Suwe had gathered in order to get thorough medical assistance quickly. She spoke to Baba Suwe and offered him prayers. Early this Monday morning, she fulfilled her promise”, he said.

On Baba Suwe and his family’s behalf, he expressed profound gratitude to the clergy woman for her philanthropic deed.

“On behalf of Baba Suwe, his family, fans and colleagues, we say a big thank to our mother, Rev. Esther Ajayi for her usual kindness, may you never fall. This will go a long way. We shall loose no time to facilitate the trip abroad at the instance of Medical experts in LUTH working tenaciously on getting Baba Suwe a huge recovery to enable him fly for that long haul with little or no risk”, he noted.
