Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong is in the news for wrong reason as death of a grandma was allegedly caused by his convoy.
Lalong was said to be on his way to golf club in Jos, the State capital when a vehicle in his convoy allegedly hit a 70-year-old woman, who was crossing the road at Rayfied area of the State, Punchng.com relayed.
It said woman was rushed to the State Specialists Hospital where she passed on, sparking claim by the bereaved family that the governor’s caused her death.
“Unfortunately, she died shortly after. But when we inquired to know why they hit our mother, one of the security officers in the convoy said they did not see her while she was crossing. It’s really sad,” the deceased’s granddaughter told the paper.
However, the State Commissioner for Information, Dan Manjang debunked the claim in an interview he granted the publication saying the accident involved a security vehicle and not his principal’s convoy.
