The police have launched a manhunt for partners in crime of suspected serial killer Sunday Shodipe.
Shodipe, a serial killer tormenting residents of Akinyele Local Government area of Oyo State had escaped from police custody only to be rearrested on Sunday following a tip-off by a hunter group under the umbrella, Soludero Hunters, who led the police to his hideout at his grandma’s residence in Bodija area of Ibadan.
The 19-year-old, according to the head of the hunters’ group, Nureni Ajijolanabi, has been singing canary revealing his partners in the dastardly act with the police hot on their trail.
“He has named some persons as his partners in the crime. Unfortunately they are on the run but we are on their trail with the police,” Ajijolanabi told newsmen.
Meanwhile the suspect gave a lowdown of how he escaped from police custody saying: “The new DPO at Mokola Police Station told a policeman, Funso, that he should take us out to have our bath. The policeman took me out and he warned me against trying to escape. I didn’t even think of escaping when he said that.
“But when I saw that he was engrossed in his discussion with a man, I climbed the tank stand and scaled the fence. It was around 7pm when I escaped.”
Shodipe is arrested in connection with the killings of five persons in Akinyele area. Upon his arrest, he said he was killing for a certain herbalist.
