Policeman killed in attack on A’Ibom station


An attack on a police station in Ini local government area of Akwa Ibom State by suspected men of the Eastern Security Network, ESN, an arm of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, has left a policeman died.

IPOB is said to be behind the spate of attacks on police facilities and officers in the Southeast and part of the South-south, an allegation the secessionist group continued to deny.

The latest in the string of the attacks occurred on Sunday when gunmen stormed a the Ini Police station and opened fire on officers killing an officer whose identity is yet to be made public by police authorities.

A reprisal attack, however led to the killing of a suspected member of IPOB identified as Imo John Udo. The latter, report said hailed from Essien Udim council area of the state.
