Policeman shoots LASTMA official dead over traffic offence

A Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA official, Rotimi Adeyemo, has been killed in the line of duty by a trigger-happy cop believed to be an operative of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at Iyana-Ipaja area in Alimosho Local Government Area of the state where Adeyemo was controlling traffic at the Iyana-Ipaja roundabout in the evening around 6.30.

The murdered LASTMA official was said to have forced the cop, who drove a Toyota Highlander SUV to pull over for breaking traffic offence. This was said to have infuriated the motorist, jumped out of his car with a gun, and shot his victim dead.

On seeing that Adeyemo was dead – no thanks to him, the killer cop reportedly attempted to flee the scene but bystanders intervened, prevented him from escape and handed him over to the police.

LASTMA PRO, Mr Mahmud Hassan, confirmed the incident when contacted.
