Nigeria’s new President, Muhammadu Buhari may have broken protocol after he absented himself from the post-inauguration luncheon that was organised for world leaders and diplomats who attended his swearing-in ceremony at the Eagle Square.
Instead, President Buhari was at the National Mosque for the Friday prayer, and had to be represented by the vice-president, Yemi Osinbajo at the luncheon, which was held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa.
President Buhari initially was in the Banquet Hall but left for mosque before the event commenced while his guests; including US Secretary of State, Joe Biden, South African President, Jacob Zuma and others were seated.
However, the vice-president apologised on the president’s behalf, explaining that he went for the Friday prayer.
