Catholic Bishop of Sokoto, Most Reverend Matthew Kukah, has highlighted problems confronting Nigeria and holding the country down.
Highlighting the problems, which include being ruled by ex-Military leaders in an interview he granted The Sun, Reverend Kukah said, “There are other countries with former military men as heads of government. Well, the other countries don’t have the Nigerian population. Other countries don’t have Muslims and Christians fighting every day; other countries are not weighed down by the distortions and contradictions of ethnicity and other cleavages; other countries are not depending only on oil; other countries have not produced a criminal class that focuses on just appropriating a single resource base; that you just have a group of bandits who have just come from one generation to another in the name of government. It’s one of the greatest tragedies in Nigeria.”
