Protest over alleged Tinubu’s control of Lagos

A movement by the name, ‘Orange Group for a free Lagos’, has announced its arrival on the political scene in Lagos to end alleged grip of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the state.

Ostensibly sympathetic to the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the group’s debut via a press conference it organised at Airport Hotel, Ikeja, on Thursday was marred by disruption and violence.

According to report, trouble emanated after political thugs purportedly members of the All Progressive Congress stormed the venue and following the ensuing melee, which was brought to the attention of the police, the programme was brought to an abrupt end.

Speaking, the Lagos State Police Commissioner, Mr. Zubairu  Muazu blamed the organisers of the press conference for the crisis that rocked it, saying: “Information was received from organizers of the event that they were being attacked by some hoodlums. Based on the information the  Divisional Police Officer in-Charge of Ikeja Division swiftly deployed his men to the area. “It is against the law for anyone or group of persons to organize any public procession without getting approval from the Police, considering the tensed situation of the state.”
