The United Nations, UN, has denied claim that musician, Oladapo Oyebanjo, aka D’Banj, is its Youth Ambassador for Peace.
D’Banj is enmeshed in a rape scandal on the back of the allegation from one Seyitan Babatayo who said the singer in her hotel room sexually abused her.
The Koko master had denied the rape slur imputed to him and has also been accused by Seyitan of using police to harass her amid calls for his prosecution with an online petition penned by one E. Popoola on change.org seeking the UN to drop the singer as its youth ambassador.
The request to the UN was made against the backdrop of the information about D’Banj being made the world body’s youth ambassador since 2012.
Denying the claim that the singer is UN youth ambassador, its Director of Information, Joseph Kayanja, told Punchng.com via a mail; “I would like to confirm that the said Mr. Oladapo Oyebanjo, aka D’Banj, is NOT a UN Ambassador. The title was accorded to him by an obscure UN youth association, which has nothing to do with the United Nations. I hope this clarifies.”
