A 38 year-old man suspected to be a ritualist has been arrested in Ogun for being in possession of 18 human skulls.
The man called Adelani Ayomide, a resident of Ilaro, was arrested at about 6:48am on Thursday by policemen attached to the Ado-Odo Division during a stop-and-search operation by the police. 18 human skulls was found in a sack where he hid them.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi in a statement confirmed the arrest of the suspect, adding that the suspect will be transferred to the State Department of Investigation, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
Adejobi said: “Policemen attached to Ado-Odo Division, while on a stop-and-search exercise along Ado-Odo Owode Road sighted a pedestrian, Adelani Ayomide, 38, of Ilaro, Ogun State with a bag containing 18 human heads.
“The suspect will be transferred to the state department of investigation, Eleweran Abeokuta, for discrete investigation.
“The Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye has assured of a thorough investigation and that he will make sure the suspect faces the full wrath of the law and assist in getting other suspects in connection with the crime.”
