Father of former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Joshua Dariye, who was abducted on Saturday night was forced to wear female gown by the suspected kidnappers so as to cover up his identity and escape with him, it has emerged.

Pa Dafaan Dariye, a community leader in Horop village in Mushere District of Bokkos Local Government Council of Plateau State, was abducted by nine gunmen who arrived on motor bikes in the evening, and were firing into the air.

Sources said the abductors went straight into Pa Dariye’s compound, held the family at gunpoint and forced the 87-year-old patriarch to undress before dressing him up in female gown, and a head tie.

It was said that disguising the senior Dariye by his assailants was to conceal his identity while they rode on motorcycle with him.

Meanwhile, Major General Dave Enetie, Commander of the Special Task Force (STF), maintaining security in Plateau State, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos, on Sunday that the gunmen that kidnapped Senator Dariye’s father, have asked for $10 million as ransom.

“We have just confirmed that the kidnappers dropped a letter in which they asked for $10 million.’’

He said the kidnappers also left telephone numbers to facilitate contacts with the family of their victim.

“We are trying to get a copy of the letter and the phone numbers to help our efforts to secure the release of Dariye’s father,’’ he said.
