Senator Melaye Threatens SaharaReporter’s Publisher with Jail Over Bank Account Publication

1026 Senator Dino Melaye

Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West Senatorial District has dared the publishers of news website, SaharaReporters, Omoyele Sowore, to register with the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, if he won’t be jail.

SaharaReporters had reported that the self-styled activist whose estranged wife and mother of his three children, Tokounbo, sometime last year accused him of domestic violence, and filed for divorce, has illegally been operating a bank
accounts in the US since 2010.

Operating a foreign accounts by public office holder contravenes the Code of Conducts and Ethics and it is punishable under law.

According to the website, Senator Melaye gave the impression that he is a student to open a “CampusEdge” current account with account number 4460 1649 8396 and a regular savings account with account number 4460 1647 5966 with Bank of America in the state of Maryland.

Senator Melaye obtained a bank debit card with account number ending with #8873. It is the senator’s transactions with the debit card that gave away him away as the owner of the accounts.

One of Mr. Melaye’s last transactions on the account took place on December 4th as he approved payment for a transaction relating to the purchase of cosmetics from a Kremlin-based MagnitKosmetik store. Also, on September 1, Mr. Melaye approved payment to a New York-based Schweiger Dermatology, SaharaReporters revealed.

The website’s revelation of Senator Melaye’s alleged foreign accounts backed up with documents was not a music to the controversial senator’s ear who Nollywood actress Bisi Ibidapo Obe has repeatedly said is the dad of her daughter in an adulterous affair.

In an abusive twitter rant aimed at the publisher of SaharaReporters, Omoyele Sowore, he posted: “I dare Sahara to register with corporate Affairs commission. Sowore’s jail term will be longer than that of a monkey in the zoo.”
