A hunter in Uhumuode Local Government Area of Igbanke, Edo State has reportedly shot dead his colleague whom he was owing in the bush where they both went hunting.
The murder suspect whose identity was withheld is currently facing interrogation at the Edo State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID alongside another friend, simply identified as Osagie who is not a hunter.
Romanus Omorotiomwan(pictured), a hunter, was said to have been shot in the shoulder by his hunter friend who went to fetch him in his house with motorcycle last Monday.
The 52-year-old who was popularly called Roman reportedly left with the suspect who later picked up Osagie on their way to the hunting ground.
But that was the last time his pregnant wife would see him alive. The other time he saw him, it was his lifeless body with deep bullet hole in his shoulder.
Report has it that Roman was shot dead by his friend whom he lent some money and had refused all entreaties to pay off the debt. It was even gathered that they once had serious fight over it.
Sources said the murder suspect had directed Osagie to stay back somewhere while he and Roman went further in the bush only for Osagie to hear gunshot.
It was gathered that the suspect rushed back to Osagie to break the news of Roman’s death claiming he(Roman) committed suicide.
