Feelers from the Nigerian hip-hop scene reveal that popular (dancehall?) artiste, Slam, is back with a new hit single titled “Sweeter.”
The singer, whose real name is Udoka Oguamanam, came into limelight with the critically acclaimed single Ibu Chineke released on the Kennis Music label. Other successful songs by him include Dreaming About You and Party On.
Sweeter is a pop reggae fusion featuring reggae maestro, Rhymzo. In characteristic Slam style, it is a masterful blend of high energy, rich lyrics and top quality production that will keep audiences on the dance floor until the last strokes fade away.
Sweeter is based on a true life experience. According to the artiste: “I want everybody to always be true to that special someone because when all else goes you will realize that that person is sweeter than anything you ever had.
“This is a major hit among other hit songs that I will be releasing soon. I am also looking to have a couple of great collaborations as well,” he added.
Following the successful launch of three albums, Slam left Nigeria at the height of his music career in 2005 to pursue a Masters degree in Marketing in the United Kingdom. He explains that he never entirely left music during the period as he occasionally played in clubs around the UK and even Holland.
Speaking of his return, he says: “After my studies in the UK, I decided to develop other aspects of myself, though I was still involved in a lot of music projects behind the scenes. For instance, I produced sound tracks for top Nollywood movies such as I’ll Take My Chances by Emem Isong; Holding Hope which featured Uche Jumbo; Kiss and Tell by Monalisa Chinda; Okon In Lagos by Uduak Isong Oguamanam and many more.”
Sweeter is produced by George Nathaniel for S’ Ent. Records.
