Kogi Government has pushed back at the claim made by the Presidential Taskforce(PTF) on COVID-19 that it is a pandemic high risk state.
PTF on Monday admonished Nigerians not resident in Kogi to avoid going to the state labelling the area as a COVID-19 nest.
“A state that is not testing at all is an absolute high risk for Nigerians to visit because, there is no testing facility and even if you fall sick, there is no isolation center and they don’t even acknowledge that the disease exists. So for that reason, we put that state at the top of high risk states,” the National Incident Manager (NIM) of the PTF COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Mukhtar Muhammad said.
The statement has provoked the ire of the state government as the Commissioner for Information and Communication in the state, Kingsley Fanwo, in response alleged that there was some monkey businesses going on in the name of the novel disease.
Fanwo said, “What we said and still saying is that Covid-19 is not worth all the marketing going on just for a few to make billions; that we do not have to suffer innocent Nigerians while a few smile to the banks.”
