Five Super Falcons players participating at the on-going African Women’s Nations Cup in Cameroon, on Wednesday, escaped involving in possible air mishap.
The near mishap happened at the airport in Douala while players and officials of the team and that of Banyana Banyana of South Africa, which they defeated to qualify for the final of the championship boarded a flight en-route to Yaoundé.
Report says the team were scheduled to depart Douala at 9.00 a.m. and had left their Parliamentarian Flat hotel at Buea in Douala at 6.00 a.m.
However on getting to Douala airport, seats could not be secured for all members of the team. So, five of them were asked to join another flight.
The report says the five players were forced to travel by road from Douala to Yaoundé after the aircraft in which they were supposed to fly developed electrical fault shortly before take off.
The Super Eagles will on Saturday play the Cameroon women national team in the final of the 2016 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.
