Suspended Anambra monarchs revisit Buhari

Twelve Anambra monarchs who the State governor, Willie Obiano suspended for visiting President Muhammadu Buhari has again repeated same action.

Obiano who is feuding with business mogul, Prince Arthur Eze, the facilitator of the visit, said the monarchs’ sin was that they travelled out of the state without government’s imprimatur.

Unperturbed by their suspension for a year, the monarchs on Thursday were again guests at the Villa where they met with Chief of Staff to the President, Prof Ibrahim Gambari, according to a statement the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, released.

In the statement titled, ‘Anambra monarchs laud President Buhari for developmental strides in South East’ the monarchs were effusive about the President commending the federal government’s stride in infrastructure in the region.

Meanwhile, the traditional rulers have described their suspension as charade and abuse of power.

The stated this at a press conference in Abuja.

Speaking on behalf of others, HRH Igwe Chijioke Nwankwo, Igwe Nawfia, said: “We state categorically that we have not committed any act to warrant being suspended.

“This is to say the least an abuse of power and high handedness by the Igwe in connivance with the state government that has become increasingly desperate as the Governor Willie Obiano administration winds to a close.”
