The purported plot by National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and immediate-past Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, to run together on a ticket come 2023 election has drawn the comment of the party acting Chairman, and Yobe Governor, Mai Mala Buni.

Dogara’s defection to the APC from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, last week, has sparked rumour that Tinubu was behind it and the pair’s motive was to run together with the former Lagos governor as the candidate and the ex-Speaker, his running mate.
Speaking in an interview on the Hausa service of the British Broadcasting Corporation monitored in Kaduna, Buni commented on the rumour, saying, “You know you can’t stop people from talking. In fact, rumour strives in a democracy. That is not even our concern for now. Our concern is to further unite the party.”
