Mobosi Ikechukwu, a driver with online car hire service firm, Uber, was on Thursday arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court over allegation that he stole a phone worth N235,000 from his passenger.

The 32-year-old, who was arraigned before Mr. B. A. Sonuga was said to have been assigned by Uber to pick up Mrs. Fatima Eshotune, who requested for a driver on the night of February 28.
The Prosecutor, Corporal Friday Mameh told the court that Ikechukwu picked Mrs. Eshotune up in his Toyota Corolla saloon car marked SMK124EJ, adding that she requested to charge her phone on a device in the car, which the driver obliged.
Mmameh said the complainant forgot the phone, a gold Samsung Galaxy S6 valued at N235,000, in Ikechukwu’s car when she alighted at around 8.00pm at Agodogba Street, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi.
However, Ikechukwu denied seeing the phone and pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.
Magistrate Sonuga granted him N200,000 bail with two sureties in the like sum and adjourned till May 15.
