A faction of the ruling African National Congress party joined the growing call for his resign following the party’s poor performance in local elections in August, in which it lost control of several key metropolitan areas.

They blamed ANC’s woeful performance at the poll on Zuma’s scandal.

During the week, opposition lawmakers tried to stop President Zuma from addressing the parliament, repeatedly insulting and declaring him unfit for office.

This led to a brawl between opposition lawmakers, and the security guards, who were urged on by ANC lawmakers loyal to Zuma.

In the video of the fight, which has gone viral, some opposition members tried to throw punches at the security guards who removed them from the chamber.
