Wema bank Depositor loses N350,000 to fraudster in banking hall

A branch of Wema Bank

A depositor, Nojeem Ogundele, has lost N350,000 to a fraudster inside the banking hall of a branch of Wema Bank at Aiyetoro in Ogun State.

According to Punchng, quoting Ogundele, he was sent on errands to the bank by his boss to pay the sum to the latter’s account with the bank when he fell victim to the fraudster’s dubious scheme.

He related expectedly with bitterness that he was on a queue outside the bank awaiting his turns when the man posing as the bank staff came out of the banking hall to tell the security man to allow those who wanted to deposit bulk money entrance, which the security obliged, adding that the same person approached him later with three tellers and he handed the sum over to him.

In his narrative, he reportedly told the publication, “After I entered, the same man came to me and asked how much I wanted to deposit and when I told him, thinking he was a bank official, he gave me three tellers and told me to fill in the details.

“I was waiting for the signed copies from the bulk room and when it was taking too long, I raised the alarm.”
