The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to stamping out corruption in the country saying it has amended the Whistleblower policy to include the introduction of a formal legal agreement between it and the information providers.
The Director of Information in the Whistle Blowing Unit, Mr. Salisu Dambatta disclosed this in a statement he release on Wednesday in Abuja.
Dambatta said the amendment was necessary to ensure the protection of the identity of information providers during the payment process.
He said the agreement had already been executed by the Minister of Justice.
He added that the unit has received 2, 150 communications and 337 tips through its dedicated channels from many patriotic Nigerians.
The office of the Whistleblower Unit is located in Federal Ministry of Finance Headquarters. Its staff were seconded from the Police Force, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, Department of State Services, and Presidential Initiative on Continuous Audit.
