A video that provoked statements in some quarters that United States troops have landed in Nigeria has drawn reaction from the presidency.

Donald Trump’s threat to unleash United States military on Nigeria on account of claim that Christians in the country are facing existential threats and experiencing genocide has taken centre stage and dividing opinions.

Another scene entered on Friday as one X user @Italian_Spence posted a video accompanied by the caption:“Breaking News🚨: US Army lands in Bonny Island, Rivers State!! Donald Trump wasn’t playing around.😳😳.”

The video which gathered over 1,300 comments as of the time of this report, shows a group of foreign military personnel in uniform and helmets standing beside what appeared to be inflatable boats on a riverbank at an undisclosed location.

The Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, joined the conversations it generated, saying, “This is false!!!!”
