Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, has been found guilty of betting, and as result handed a two-month ban by the Italian Football Federation.
Okoye came under investigation after he was accused of intentionally getting a yellow card during a Seria A match between his side, Udinese and Lazio.
The moment later became a controversy with claim that it was prearranged towards a betting scheme and consequently the goalkeeper came under probe.
The 24-year-old has now been found guilty of sporting misconduct by the the authorities in Italy, and has been ban from official matches for two months.
His ban was announced on Tuesday and it will commence from the first official game of the 2025/2026 season of the Seria A.
“The National Federal Tribunal, Disciplinary Section, definitively ruling, imposes on Mr Emil Maduka Okoye the sanction of two (2) months of disqualification in official matches, starting from the beginning of the first official competition of the 2025/2026 sporting season,” the statement, issued by the Disciplinary Section of the National Federal Tribunal read.
