Katsina: Bandits kill four policemen in attack on patrol vehicle

Four police officers have died in the line of duty in Katsina State.

The officers were members of the 27 Police Mobile Force (PMF) from Guga Camp.

According to report, their deaths occurred on Wednesday around 12:45 p.m during a routine patrol when suspected bandits ambushed their team with other two officers injured in the attack.

The narrative around the killings has it that bandits opened fire on the police vehicle forcing it to a halt and went on to overpower the officers before shooting them at close range.

The deceased cops include: ASP Abubakar Abdullahi, Inspector Umar Ahmed and Sergeant Kailani Kabir, while Corporal Daniel Japet and Corporal Abdulaziz Sani escaped with injuries.

It was also said that the bandits fled with the officers’ weapons, including an AK-47 rifle with 30 rounds of ammunition, a Tokarev pistol loaded with eight rounds, and a long-range rifle.
