Sadiq Bako Mujahid, a National Drug Law Enforcement Agency officer has been killed during a raid on notorious drug enclave in Ama Hausa, Bonny Island, Rivers State.
NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, broke this news in a statement he released where he said Mujahid’s killers had been arrested.
According to Babafemi, the raid took place on Friday, February 6, 2026, and large quantity of cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, skunk, and tramadol were seized by NDLEA operatives.
In a bid to arrest those in charge of the illicit drug business, violence reigned as the suspects mobilised armed hoodlums to attack the operatives causing Mujahid head injuries which he succumbed to, at Bonny Island General Hospital where he was rushed to, the NDLEA spokesperson narrated.
He added that the gang leader, Genesis George Benson, and five others namely: ThankGod Okon, Shamsudden Isah, Muhammed Musa, Adamu Muhammed, and Muhammed Yusuf have been arrested.
“I salute the gallantry of our men who refused to be intimidated by these criminal elements. Even after the cowardly attack on Mujahid, our operatives ensured that the assailants were overpowered and arrested, and their illicit substances confiscated. Their sacrifice will not be in vain,” Babafemi quoted the agency’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.) as saying in the statement.
