Three persons have been arrested in Sokoto State for allegedly financing bandits.
The suspects, one of whom is identified as Ruwa Ginyo were apprehended in Tangaza Local Government Area.
They were alleged of being in the business of selling rustled cattle stole by bandits and funding a notorious bandit group.
The trio were also accused of motorcycle thefts.
Their arrest was made public via a statement the state police command’s spokesman, Ahmed Rufai released.
“One of the arrested suspects, Ruwa Ginyo, identified as the Fulani head of Gidan-Madi, was apprehended alongside two accomplices. Police recovered four rustled cows during the operation,” the statement read in part.
It said that the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Musa, described the suspects as part of the “financial engine room” that keeps bandits active.
“Cutting off their funding stream is a major victory,” it added.
