A teenage boy, Gobri Yusuf, has killed his guardian simply identified as Madam Akanbi in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The killer teenager, according to report was adopted and raised by his victim.
The 15-year-old, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Adekimi Ojo, told newsmen on Friday at the State command attacked Akanbi in the bathroom with household items, which included kitchen knife after a failed poisoned attempt.
Ojo said the suspect made futile efforts to cover his track as he changed his clothes and left the residence under the pretext of running an errand.
“Findings revealed that the suspect, who was residing with the deceased, allegedly concealed himself behind a door and attacked her while she was bathing using household items.
“Items recovered from the suspect include a frying pan, a weighing scale, a kitchen turning stick (spatula), and kitchen knives,” Ojo said.
Speaking further: “After committing the offence, he changed his clothes and left the residence under the pretext of running an errand. He later contacted the deceased’s husband, who subsequently discovered her lifeless body.”
