Veteran reggae artiste, Victor Essiet of the 90s Mandators fame, who is standing trial for allegedly defrauding one Morris Etim of $86,376(about N17.2m) was on Tuesday arrested after leaving the premises of an Ikeja Magistrate Court, Lagos, his lawyer, Charles Lambo, on Wednesday told newsmen.

According to Lambo, the musician was arrested after he was allegedly acquitted and discharged of the criminal charge, adding that the complainant threatened to deal with his client.
Lambo said, “Mandator was in the Magistrate Court One, early this morning, to attend a criminal matter between him and one complainant, Morris Etim, who had filed a suit in which Mandator was accused of obtaining some amount of money by false pretence.
“But at the proceedings this morning, the court discharged and acquitted him of the allegation. It was while on his way home that some men suspected to be Policemen, fully armed ordered his car to stop and he was arrested and up till now, no one know where he has been taken to.”
Sometime in July, 2015, the Rat Race’ crooner was arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrate Court arraigned alongside one Patricia Enobong before Chief Magistrate Y. E. Aje Afunnwa.
Few days before their arraignment, it was speculated that Essiet was kidnapped in Nsit Ubiom area of Akwa Ibom State.
