Four persons arrested over attack on Gov Bago’s convoy

Niger State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with the attack on the convoy of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago in Bida last weekend.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, announced the suspects’ arrest on Tuesday via a statement he released.

The incident occurred on November 2, 2025, at about 1:45 pm, when the governor’s convoy was leaving Bida for Minna after the local government election.

The convoy was attacked by hoodlums who pelted the vehicles with stones and dangerous weapons, and left several cars damaged.

The situation was brought under control by police officers from Division B in the state who were dispatched to the scene.

According to Abiodun, four suspects have been arrested including: Ali Mohammed, Adamu Hussain and Isah Umaru.

“In a further follow-up investigation, one Abdulmalik Usman Nagemu, aged 39, of Bello Masaba area, Bida, was also arrested in connection with the crime,” Abiodun stated.

The police spokesperson said further that preliminary investigation led to the mention of two other suspects, identified as Salihu Mohammed and Abdulrahman Baba, who are currently being tracked.

“All suspects are under investigation and assisting the police in identifying others involved. Efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects are ongoing,” SP Abiodun assured.
