The Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, has resigned from office following report that his claim to graduate from University of Nigeria Nsukka is dodgy.

Nnaji in the curriculum vitae which he submitted to the National Assembly while he was nominated for the ministerial position said he has BSc in Microbiology/Biochemistry from UNN and did the mandatory National Youth Service Corps in Jos.

His claim came into question as counter- claims said he dropped out from the university.

The latest is that the minister has turned in his resignation letter, a development the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, made public via a statement he released on Monday which contains the following words: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, following some allegations against him. President Tinubu appointed Nnaji in August 2023.

“He resigned today in a letter thanking the President for allowing him to serve Nigeria. Nnaji said he has been a target of blackmail by political opponents. President Tinubu thanked him for his service and wished him well in future endeavours.”
