Hadiza Ali-Musa, ex-wife of Niger State Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Yakubu Kolo, has accused him of threats, abuse, and intimidation.
The estranged couple have two children together.
In an appeal made to the public in which she said their marriage last for nine years and it was allegedly characterised by spousal abuse on the part of the Commissioner, Hadiza claimed the aggression has now taken a new dimension.
She accused Kolo of denying her access to their children, regularly threatening her and at one point used the police to arrest her.
“I left the marriage through the court because I couldn’t endure the suffering anymore. But instead of peace, I now live in fear. He’s using his position and power to frustrate me and my role as a mother to our two children,” the 38-year old said.
The latter appealed to the state Governor, Umaru Bago and the Niger State Commissioner of Police to come to her aid citing: “This is no longer a private matter. It is a matter of my life and the safety of my children.”
